This slow, lovely ballad is in 3/4 time and features a singable melody.  The bridge switches to 5/4 and features a descending bass line.

This beautiful piece was composed in the style of the French Impressionists.  Lots of lush harmonies.  The descending arpeggios are a bit tricky, but this piece is sure to impress audiences.

This piece was composed in the style of New Age pianists like Jim Brickman and George Winston.

This bouncy, lilting piece is an homage to the Classical era.  Recording available.

This piece will remind you of the great waltzes of the Romantic period.  No recording available at this time.

From All Sides

The opening motif for this piece features parallel sixths in the right hand.  The chorus uses a circle-of-fifths chord progression.

It’s a Jazzy Christmas:  Silent Night

Silent Night never sounded so lush and romantic.  Introduce your students to thick jazz harmonies, chord extensions and substitute chords.

Imagine this traditional carol in 5/4 time.  Students will have a great time navigating the syncopation.

With a pedal point introduction and complex jazz harmonies, this version of Joy to the World be a favorite for students.

This is another traditional carol treated with complex jazz harmonies.

It’s a Jazzy Christmas:  Angels We Have Heard on High

This arrangement is rich with harmonic treats that add to this already incredible tune.  The chorus is a bit challenging, due to the fact that a new chord appears on every beat, but it is certainly attainable.

It’s a Jazzy Christmas:  The First Noel

This arrangement presents this classic carol in three different keys, starting in C major and modulating to Db major and D major.

I Will

This Beatles classic song is arranged as a piano duet for two pianos.

Legacy

This composition was written for the celebration of life for Dana’s father.  After the introduction the piece moves back and forth between three distinct sections.  Recording available.

A New Perspective

This swing tune features lots of syncopation and interesting rhythms.  It was originally composed for a dance concert at the summer camp Young Musicians and Artists.

Prelude in C Minor

This prelude is in 3/4 time and is classical in nature with traditional harmonies and a simple melodic motif.

Prelude in G Major

This prelude offers a simple melody over arpeggiated chords in the left hand.

Prelude in G Minor

A circle of fifths chord progression provides a basis for the eighth notes in the right hand to weave around.

Prelude in Db Major

This prelude in 6/8 will remind you of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata with the broken chords in the right hand outlining a nice melody line.
